Older manufactured home reunited with its city neighborhood
The hard working neighbors were eager to see the local eyesore removed or rehabilitated. The home had fallen into extreme disrepair with the need for extensive interior remodeling, new energy efficient windows, a new roof & extensive landscaping.
The front lawn had disappeared beneath an over-large drop off / driveway with an uninviting front door & side mounted entry stair.
The original bathtub and a previous tile work remodel could remain unaltered but for deep cleaning. An affordable one-piece big box store vanity was installed. The low flow toilet was an inexpensive replacement in lieu of rebuilding the original.
Kitchen cabinets & lighting were bargain basement & dated and replaced with quality solid wood cabinetry & new nickle finish lighting..
The poorly constructed demising wall between the kitchen & living room was removed to create an open floor plan layout. A kitchen island added additional work / storage space as well as a more informal eating area.
View of exterior with rebuilt entry stair, new cement board skirting, new roof & gutters, gravel overlay 2-car driveway and a new lawn with an enhanced landscape planting strip at the base of the house.
We met the former owner and his father soon after purchase at auction. Both were agreeable enough but adamant that we had made a big mistake buying the house. “You’re not going to make any money” the father said. “The house has all kinds of problems…” He went on. We listened as first hand owner or tenant knowledge about the home’s condition can be useful as we begin to tackle a new project.
