sometimes (rarely) you get lucky…..
Homes for sale on the retail market have the benefit of home owners motivated to get the best price for a primary life investment. Either pride of ownership over the years or the need to maximize the sale price will motivate the seller to fix water leaks, paint what needs to be painted & replace that broken window pane.
With foreclosed homes, the deferred maintenance list can run pages long. The home’s list can be relatively short if a caring home owner falls on hard times and sadly loses their home at auction. In this case, a deep cleaning & exterior clean up, interior painting & work on the well were all that were needed to bring the home to market readiness. The hardwood floors were cleaned & polished and walls of bright baby blue were transformed to a more neutral antique white.
The existing vanity wood was deep cleaned & polished and its faucet & water lines replaced.
A new low flow toilet, accessories & mirror were installed. The existing vinyl flooring was in good condition.
Keeping the unique as a selling point
The more rural surroundings of Shelton allow for greater acreage & the space for unique solutions to storage needs. This shipping container could hold a family’s entire houehold belongings and then some. The previous owner had built a wood canopy for RV or boat storage & this unique structure was placed on a lower terrace away from the home but directly off of the entry drive for convenient access.
Some limited exterior painting was done to protect vulnerable soffits, the shipping container & wood assembly were pressure washed and the driveway was covered with black gravel for a smooth, fresh look & feel.
